Could I “NARC” on a business to get my charges dropped?
john asked:
I know it is common practice to reduce or dismiss charges if you give the court something they want such as a major drug dealer….meth lab….murderer ect…..What if I rolled on a business or two in the collection industry who are violating federal laws and consumer rights? I only have a couple misdemeanors pending that werent that severe. Is there a chance that they may accept info for a dismissal. Plus how does that usually work?

Consumer Rights Regarding Vehicle Purchases?
Nagal asked:
Last Saturday we purchased a certified pre-owned car from a dealership and were told that it comes with Anti-Lock Brakes, when in fact, it does not. A sticker was displayed on the car at the time of purchase stating that the car had ABS under “other accessories”. We found this out during an outside inspection after the sale.
We would like to exchange this car or get a full refund. Can the dealership penalize us in any way? Are there any laws protecting our consumer rights, since it hasn’t even been a week since the purchase?

HELP: What Are The Rights of the Consumer?
Yahoo Sucks asked:
My Phone/Internet provider service disconnected (physically) my service do to an error on their part. They admitted that they were at fault yet refused to take responsibility for robbing us of internet service for over 48 hours. I switched my DSL service but still have the old companies phone service. They will try to slap me with cancelation fees and whatever else. I have proof, in physical evidence, that they were at fault and are guilty of consumer fraud.
What is the best way I can cancel my service and not pay the cancelation fees (they are in breach of contract and have broken laws)? What are the consumers rights when the service provider fraudulently breaks a contract?
I do not want to get into a legal struggle if I don’t have to, they have already wasted my time.

Rights of A consumer and where does the law step in?
diane33michigan asked:
when a company refuses to give you any answers, just makes threats and harassing phone calls to family and friends and gives out personal information along with threatening those family members.
I was one month late on my car payment due to my husband losing his job, called company 3 weeks before payment was due and asked if we could defer a months payment, said i had to wait till it was pass due so I called the day after the payment was due, nothing. The Company gave out personal information to my family and friends told them they were going to repo it and everything. My payments are paid all up to date at this time, never had been late not one day before my husband loss job.
How does the law protect me as a consumer? They can sue me if i don’t pay but what can I do to them for release of confidential information ,harassment, and non professional behavior. BBB rating is a F. They do not answer any comments from the BBB. What should be my next steps . They say they will not release title to new company to refinance . Demanded my checking account numbers and I am not on the loan.

In the state of Tx what rights does the consumer have with a mechanics lien on a vehicle ?
kelly b asked:
My daughters car was taken to a body shop by her (now) ex boyfriend who told the mechanic ( a friend of his) to fix it completely. My daughter the owner of the car did not authorize this action. We never even got an estimate. 3 months later, and several long distance trips to ft. worth and many phone calls, we went to see the repairs being made on the car, but the car was not there. The mechanic told us he had moved the car to his house and that it was “just around the corner”. He has not produced the car however and she never recieved any documentation from the body shop. He told her he had put a mechanics lien on the car and that he had someone to buy the car if we did not want it, but we did want to pay for it but only after seeing what repairs had been made…what do we do? we have no car and never authorized him to make any repairs..what rights does she have if any? What are the laws in Texas on mechanics’ lien? Do we report the car stolen? Please help!!!

In Canada, what are general consumer rights to have fraudulent credit card charges reversed?
Steve O asked:
A relative of mine who lives in Ontario, Canada was scammed during the last year. I’m reading the Consumer Protection Act, 2002, and am confused by Part IX, which says it doesn’t apply to remedies in respect to unfair practices in Part III. But Part III seems to apply.
Also, how can I research case law in Canada to know how the law is applies?

Consumer Law: Where Do I Stand With Regards Of This? ?
davie asked:
A few months ago I bought a Sony Bravia TV in a summer sale and it is paid for!
When I paid them I asked them if they would mind looking after it as it was a Christmas/Birthday present for someone. (Myself)
Now it is getting towards the time when I will collect it, but I am having second thoughts as in I want different TV from the same shop.
I want the new style Bravia 2 engine-better picture.
In the next few days I will go in and tell them I will collect it on the 20 December and I will ask them if I can pay the extra for the Bravia 2 engine TV and show my debit card as my way of payment.
(I don’t know how they will react-but I want to forewarned)
Am I within my rights to ask this-or could they be awkward and refuse?
With a recession here/looming I see this as a buyers market and I think they will grab the extra cash I am offering to pay.
The TV is still on their premises so technically the contract between me and the shop has not started (my thoughts on the law??)
Would love to hear any comments on where I stand on the above scenario?
Many thanks
